Nordic Dummy Awards and Iikka Tolonen in Oulu 7.11.

The audience has a chance to see the top of the Nordic photographic art books on Saturday 7.11., when the Nordic Dummy Award finalists 2015 and winner 2014 come to Oulu.

The shortlisted finalists are presented in the Northern Photographic Centre gallery on Saturday at 12-14, and at the same time the winner from 2014, Iiikka Tolonen, is representing his winning book Härkälä. The event is open and free of charge for everyone.

The Nordic Dummy Award is an initiative by Fotogalleriet and the Norwegian Association of Fine Art Photographers. It takes place annually in connection with the Fotobokfestival Oslo. Artists with a connection to the Nordic countries can submit their unpublished photo books to be judged by a jury that shortlists candidates and selects the winner.The winning book will be published by Kehrer Verlag in collaboration with Fotogalleriet and launched at the Fotobokfestival Oslo annually.

The winner of Nordic Dummy Award 2015 is Karina-Sirkku Kurz (FI/DE) with the photo book UNGLEICHGEWICHT. Her book will be published in Oslo in September 2016. The winner dummy with all the other finalists are represented in Oulu in 7.11.

The Northern Photographic Centre will exhibit Iikka Tolonen's Härkälä -project in the exhibition program 2016.

The Dummy Awards touring is a part of the cooperation of the Nordic Photography Network coordinated by the Northern Photographic Centre.

Call for submissions: exhibition season 2016

Call for submissions for exhibition season 2016 is open!

It is possible to apply for the whole exhibition space (rooms 1-7), or three rooms and the jail room (rooms 1-4) or for three smaller rooms. Gallery space is good for group exhibitions, too. There is a white screen and a video projector in two rooms.

Exhibition fee (for five weeks):

All gallery space (rooms 1-7) 700€

3 rooms and "jail room" (rooms 1-4) 500€

3 smaller rooms (rooms 5-7) 400€


The exhibition fee covers the opening ceremony, exhibition insurances and transportation as well as marketing and promotion.

For domestic artists also travels and accommodation during the installation and opening are covered.

The participants of the Finland-France exchange program for photographers 2015 chosen

 

The participants of the Finland-France exchange program for photographers for the year 2015 have been chosen.

Saana Wang is the Finnish artist traveling to France in 2015. Wang’s residency period will be hosted by Centre Photographique D’ile de France. The French artist coming to Finland is Guillaume Greff. Greff’s residency will take place with the Photographic Artists’ Association Finland.

The Finland -France photographic artist exchange program has been established in the year 2003. The program is executed in cooperation between the Northern Photographic Center, Photographic Center Peri, The Union of Artist Photographers Finland, The Finnish Embassy in France, the French Center for Culture, Centre Photographique d'Ile de France, Association Diaphane and Pôle Image. The cooperation is coordinated by the Northern Photographic Center an Pôle Image.
