Elina Bry’s debut full length film “Is the Earth Chronically Ill?” is shown at Studio Cinema on 14th of February, starting at 5 pm.
“Is the Earth Chronically Ill?” is Elina Bry’s first long film. This deeply personal debut explores the connections between the climate crisis and nature in three significant places for Bry: Scotland (Shetlands, Isle of Eigg, Forsinard), Finland (Pyhä, Päijät-Häme, Kanta-Häme) and France (Hérault).
In this constantly developing project, Bry draws parallels to Earth’s ”chronic disease” – climate change- and their own experiences living with chronic illness. The film captures reflective moments in these landscapes, examining resilience, change and fragility. Duration of the film is 50 minutes.
Elina Bry is one of the artists in residence for Photo North’s Adaptation – Time Is Not On Our Side: Towards Possible Futures -program and will be spending February of 2026 at Ii Art Brake -residency. Read more about Bry from our news.
