At the panel discussion on 17 October at 2 pm, the artists-in-residence of the Adaptation exhibition, Michèle Boulogne, Elina Bry and Jaakko Myyri, will discuss their works and their Residency practices in Northern Finland in 2025–2026. The discussion will be held in English and moderated by the exhibition’s chief curator, Antti Tenetz.
What does adaptation mean at a time when environments, technologies and societies are changing rapidly? What if adaptation is not simply a response to change, but a form of active agency – the ability to observe the present, question existing structures and open up new horizons?
The artists in the exhibition will discuss what happens when we no longer position ourselves as external observers of our surroundings, but recognize ourselves as part of complex ecological, technological and cultural systems – while also acknowledging our agency within them.
The discussion also explores the role of art and the artist as a way of engaging with the present: making changes visible, imagining alternatives and seeking possible directions towards an as-yet unknown future.
The event is included in the museum admission fee. Free admission for visitors under 18. Museum Card, Kaikukortti, Epassi and Edenred Virike are also accepted as payment methods.
