Ellen Eurenius Hallgren’s Threads exhibition explores how to work with images during a time of political exhaustion, when the flow of information, opinions, and images is accelerating. In Hallgren’s exhibition, different realities meet in an imaginative atmosphere that slips between authenticity and fantasy. Some stories emerge while others are hidden. Interwoven materials in the exhibition open up new narratives.
The Swedish artist Ellen Eurenius Hallgren, based in Stockholm, examines the possibilities and memories that arise from combining personal and family photographs, found images, documents, and other materials—suggesting ways of being and telling stories. She often works with collage, montage, and sewing. By assembling socially and historically charged materials, Hallgren believes that they provide an entry point to something deeper and beyond.
Hallgren holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design (2020) and a Master of Fine Arts from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm (2022). See also:
