Photo North – Northern Photographic Centre is organizing a bus ride from Oulu to Tornio, to Aine Art Museum on Sunday 8.3.2026. Aine Art Museum is organizing an event on Sunday 8.3. starting at 11:00: Aine Art Museum 40 years & Jaakko Heikkilä: And I Became Human. The exhibition is a retrospective of Heikkilä’s long career from the early 1990s to the 2020s.
Heikkilä’s photographs often provide an insight into various communities, minority cultures, and the related phenomena. His images are deeply human, touching, and often with a soft hint of humour. The subjects of his photographs include Venetian aristocrats, Armenians, Wallachians, and Pomors, as well as some of Finland’s wealthiest people.
The 40th anniversary of the Aine Art Museum is an open event. The event will feature an artist meeting with photographer Jaakko Heikkilä at 11:30 and the Meri-Lappin String Quartet will perform at 13:00. Admission to the event is free and includes coffee and cake.
The bus will depart from in front of Oulu City Hall at 9:15 to Tornio and return to Oulu after the event at approximately 14:00.
